As the title suggests my mage has made it to 58 as of last night. What is even crazier is I started the day at 50. Yes that is right 8 levels in 1 day. I would have never thought it was possible, but from level 51-60 there is a little gem known as Alterac Valley.
For those of you who may not know, Alterac Valley is a 40 vs. 40 bg set in a snowy tundra where the horde and alliance try to capture bunkers/towers in hopes of getting rid of the other teams reinforcements/battlemasters so they can either kill the boss man for either side or run the other team out of reinforcements. Its a bad explanation I know so I figured Id get the friendly people over at wowwiki to explain Alterac Valley. There ya go.
Anyway as I was saying this is a gem in this bracket because each win will net you about half of your level and a loss will get you about one-third of your level. Sounds crazy I know but it is completely true. If you dont believe me just level a character up to 51 and start queueing for AVs.
The only downside to this is that is just about has to be peak hour to get a queue worth anything. For instance yesterday I was queued up from about noon til about 3pm, thats right 3 hours in queue. It was then at 3pm where the queue popped and I played game after game after game of AV. The queues were popping so fast is was just about like one right after the other. Pretty nice considering the experience.
That is about all Ive done this week. Did a few BGs on Almanac and I still love the new honor changes. When the servers come back up though today is the day that I get Almanac into his VOAs and ICCs and stuff. Hopefully it will all go smoothly.

Spring Break, the new patch, and my Mage
Well hello yall. Its been awhile since Ive posted. I think Ive figured out a good posting schedule on here. Ill most likely be posting on Tuesdays, barring something strange and of course Spring Break. The reason for this is usually on Tuesday and Thursday I have an hour between classes that I cant play WoW, eat, sleep, or attend class. So I have chosen that time. But on to what has gone on since Ive last posted!
So Spring Break happened and I totally WoWed it up. Just so you know how much time, I have a little program that records what time I spend on what program. Its supposed to be used to increase efficiency, but I just use it because Im curious. Anyway, this thing says I on the week of Mar. 14-20 (Spring Break) I spent 67 hours and 20 minutes with wow being the active window. So yea it was a fun Spring Break.
During this spring break a lot happened. The Friday before Spring Break (after my last post) I was in a pug 25 ICC and I won the axe Bryntoll, the Bone Arbiter. Its definitely a BAMF axe. With this axe and a few new pvp piece upgrades my Holy Pally and I gained 300 points and we are now sitting at 1500, pretty nice. A couple other things to note is both in that raid and the pug I was in during Spring Break, Deathbringer's Will dropped both times and I lost both times by 3 so I am still reeling from that, but I will get it eventually.
Ok so for this new patch. Its gonna be pretty sweet, you know except for the whole disarmed while bladestorming thing, but as Ive told a few people it just means warriors have to have a brain now. But besides that, we have a change to the grindiest part of the pvp system, battlegrounds. They have made it so that you get tons more honor for actually doing the damn things and doing them right. Ive tested it on the PTR and I liked what I saw. When I first started testing I did an AV, it was my random daily so I was gonna get quite a bit of honor I knew. The group I was in did it the right way, not the "OMG LETS BLITZ!" way and we got anywhere from 6-7k. It was damn sexy. I then though that yea I got that because it was the daily so I did another and this time it was SotA. This one was interesting, another win but one of the guys on our side had a speed hack and he was just blowing through gates before the alliance could react. Kinda crappy, but for testing purposes that win netted me about 4700 honor. A great increase, now maybe Ill do more bgs, I dont know though, Im kinda liking the mage.
Oh the little bundle of frost that I have made. As some of you know, I havent been streaming much at all. The reason being is I finally decided to level a mage. I think I started him on Friday or Saturday and have been playing him since. He has 1 day 16 hours played and is at level 36, I think that may be a record for me. Ive been reluctant to do this for some time because Ive always hated levelling. For some reason though the mage is a blast and I actually feel this time that I want to get him to 80 and get him in the arena. We will see though, sometimes things dont always turn out as planned.

Ongoing arena frustrations
Im getting pretty frustrated with arena. My main comp currently is Holy Pally/Arms Warrior and we can't get past 1200. Last season we were able to get to 1600 but this season we just aren't getting it done. I feel individually we are both playing well, but we don't come together as a team. This really shouldn't come as a surprise to me, Ive had issues with teamwork my whole life, not just in WoW.
As it currently stands I believe I play at a level that would allow us to win. Ive recently gotten over my communication issue where I hate barking things out, but Ive gotten over it and start asking for cleanses. An area I may be faltering in is the defensive area. It isnt non-existent, but I may be doing it too late, which could definitely be causing us games. Other than that I assist my partner with disarms and intervenes and peels the best I can, but I wouldnt know I just cant get any feedback from him.
I communicate well with him and after every game I go over what I believe went wrong. I mainly see it as a fault he did and tell him how he could do it better. After I go over what I think he doesnt say anything about my play and I highly doubt I played without fault, but he never tells me a thing. It does make me feel self-conscious sometimes, but by the time it happens Im already getting pissed off that we are losing and he isnt talking to me.
A glaring issue we seem to have is what I believe to be his positioning, its not thought out at all. Ok lets say we are on RoV and I switch to their healer, well their healer will run to one of the big pillars and he will run all the way across the arena to the other one unbeknownst to me. Eventually he will call for help when I am way . the fuck out of range and he dies, obviously. In this example Ive told him plenty times that he needs to be in a decent range of me, either at one of the small pillars or there with me at the big pillar. Another part of positioning that sucks is when I need to intervene the path is never there because he is either too far away or he is hiding from me.
Another thing he does is when he is dieing and trying to kite something he kites it away from me. Good example, in Lordaeron he is getting raped by a dps so he jumps over the tomb and back over kiting the dps awesomely, but in the meantime I can't get a handle on him because im busy trying to recover from the jump over the tomb. Here Ive told him he needs to stop jumping over the tomb when he wants me to peel because I can't get a handle on the person, instead he should run around so I can either intercept the person or he can run it to me.
Another thing is I can't trust in his assitance and it kinda sucks. The main way we try to play pal/warr is to widdle one down, stun the healer and bladestorm the low one. This is great in theory, but we have many issues with it. Sometimes I will call for a HoJ and I will get it at the right time and we win, but most of the time I will call for a HoJ and I won't get it until it is too late. I dont know what causes such a screw up but I know some of it was because he wasnt in a position to assist, some of it may be because I was being offensive when I should be defensive and he is trying to keep me up. Either way he has never told me that I play offensive at the wrong times, that is something that has just popped into my mind. This is a new thing Ive found out here recently and while Ive talked with him about it I dont see any head way being made.

Skill-Capped.com
I, and Im sure many others, have been patiently awaiting the release of skill-capped.com. For those of you who dont know it is a website that boasts instructional videos for just about all classes at how to perform better. They have gladiators of each class submit videos along with commentary about their thought processes in hopes to help us lowlies do better in arena.
Also as many of you have found out skill-capped.com isnt free, which is a bummer. During the whole pre-release phase there was never a hint of payment for their service and I feel kind of blind-sided that they have made it where you have to pay for their service. I guess it doesn't matter what I think since I didn't create the website.
I will say though it looks great, but unfortunately I will not be purchasing a subscription to their website as I can find other resources that may not be as good, but are still enough and they are free. Tell me what you think!
